Population Control


February 27th 2012

Join The Bioethics Society and Global Health Initiative in a discussion on "The Ethics of Population Control and Family Planning" The conversation will be led by Corey Maggiano of the Department of Anthropology at 5:30 pm the Lower Level Meeting Room of the Ohio Union.

The Bioethics Society, with the participation of the OSU College of Medicine, will be hosting a discussion with Dr. Christine Cassel, MD, one of 20 scientists on President Obama’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. The talk is entitled “Beyond Politics: Demystifying End of Life Care.

The event is scheduled for Friday May 13, 2011 at 1:00PM in the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute (DHLRI) Auditorium, Room 170 located at 473 W 12th Avenue.

February 14th 2011

Dr. Pamela Salsberry, from the OSU College of Nursing is coming to speak. Dr. Salsberry is a part of the OSU Center for Ethics and Human Values, and Chairs the Distributive Justice and Health Care Focus Group. She is going to be leading a discussion on the topic Is Disease Unfairly Distributed in the United States?”

The discussion will be held Monday February 14th at 6:30 PM at the Union's "Suzanna M. Scharer Room."

The Bioethics Society, alongside the Global Health Initiative and Alpha Epsilon Delta, are proud to present a discussion held by renowned liver transplant and liver cancer surgeon, New York Times columnist and author of the book Final Exam, Dr. Pauline Chen, here at The Ohio State University! 

Her discussion will focus on palliative care and the ethical complications that can arise during such circumstances.
